“Robin and I wanted to do something to help the victims of Eastern KY and the state with clean-up efforts and much-needed essentials,” reflected John Berry. “ I wrote this song with my buddy Chuck Jones in September of 2017 after the hurricanes hit in Texas and I hope it encourages you to donate your time volunteering or give money to help.”

Co-writer Chuck Jones added, “John Berry, and I got together to write a song one late summer day in 2017, we’d been watching footage of Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana that weekend before. We felt compelled to write about that devastation. When we played the song for John’s wife, Robin, she had the great idea to use the song to help raise funds for the victims of that flood, as well as the victims of Hurricanes Irma and Maria. The resulting recording and video of “All Come Together” brought together over a dozen country, pop and gospel artists, videographers, studios, and engineers, all donating their time and talents to that cause. The recent tragic flooding in eastern Kentucky has, for so many, meant the loss of everything they had. So it seemed like the right thing to resurrect our song and video as a fundraiser for those unfortunate folks. I feel privileged to be a part of any healing it might bring!”

“It was such an honor for me, to have been a part of this incredible song and video with John and so many fantastic artists. A strong reminder that natural disasters continue to happen, and typically, when they do, it brings out the very best in people! That is certainly the case in this situation. It is my sincere hope and prayer, that this project will help rally people to come to the aid of their neighbor and support and bless, the flood victims of the great State of Kentucky,” stated Collin Raye.

“When my manager, Brian Smith, called me to ask if I would participate in a song to benefit the 2017 Hurricane Harvey flood victims I was all in. Now that another flooding disaster just hit my beloved Kentucky. It just felt right to resurrect this powerful song and video and share it again in hopes it will compel people to pitch in to help, as volunteers or with whatever contributions they can offer,” shared John Cowan.

“Our hearts break from seeing the devastation from the recent flooding in eastern Kentucky. No one can understand how scary and powerful Mother Nature can be until you have experienced her first-hand. We are sending many thoughts and prayers to all those affected during this most difficult time. In times of trouble, music can bring comfort and hope. A couple of years ago, we were fortunate to collaborate with John Berry on the recording of “All Come Together,” a song he wrote with Chuck Jones in the aftermath of flooding that devastated parts of Texas, Louisiana and Florida. As the song says, we know that the people of eastern Kentucky will likewise “All Come Together” and look to each other to find strength through the storms. We hope this song will bring some comfort and encourage people to help in the recovery in whatever way they can,” shared Darin and Brooke Aldridge.

Backstory:  John was deep in the middle of his throat cancer treatment during Spring 2019 and as one can imagine, he was not in a good place as it was very hard for him physically, emotionally and mentally facing his future as an entertainer. Fast forward to 2020 and the world was deep into Covid-19, and as a touring artist, he was dealing with the issues of tour dates canceling and the unknown future; as much of the world as we know it was shut down. John found himself looking for ways to keep productive and he was ready to dive into recording a new project. The single, “Find My Joy,” was written in September 2020 by Steve Dorff and Jack Cassidy. Jump ahead to January 2021, Steve Dorff played the song to John and his wife, Robin, while meeting to discuss Steve arranging the songs for John’s new project. John immediately knew he wanted to record this song for his new faith-based album. It was shortly thereafter, they discussed Steve producing the whole project. Hailing from New York City, Steve had not grown up listening to the traditional (Christian) versions of some of these songs and had not even heard a few of them before, but was drawn to the beautiful melodies, which allowed for him to bring a unique sound to the production of these standards. Creative elements were added by Steve to the production, including the performance of “Something Bigger Than Me” which includes a 60-piece Utah Symphony Orchestra arranged by Larry Herbstritt, piano by in-demand concert and studio musician Gordon Mote and conducted by Steve Dorff. The end result is this music project is incredible!

“I really loved the idea of putting my own musical spin on some of these incredible pieces of Musical art,” added Steve Dorff. “John was so very collaborative in letting me be inventive in my approach to the overall sound and Production of the project.”.

Recording of the new project took place at Dorffmeister StudioSound Stage and Masterfonics and was engineered by Craig White, with assistance from David Bates and Joel McKenney. Studio musicians included keyboards by Jimmy Nichols, guitars by B. James Lowry and Justin Ostrander and background vocals by Tania HancheroffKim KeyesJoe ChemayRobert Bailey and Gene Miller with programming and additional keyboards by Steve Dorff. Caelan Berry played drums on “Live Like You” and “How Great Thou Art.”

“I had a great time sitting down across the microphone and visiting with John Berry for his podcast, Faith, Family & Friends. John and I have so many things in common, both born in South Carolina, both raised in Georgia, having lived one street apart in a suburb of Atlanta. Our visit was more like a conversation between two old friends than an interview. I can’t wait for folks to tune in and share some laughs, a little music, and a few old memories with us,” shared Bill Anderson.

“I absolutely loved the conversation shared with Bill Anderson and digging a little deeper to learn about his faith, family and friends,” shared John Berry. “I love sharing time with friends I have made over the years, and learn new things.”

Past conversations  on Faith, Family & Friends include the very last interview with the late Charlie Daniels, Jason Crabb, Larry Stewart, Neal McCoy, Billy Dean, Jimmy and Nina Fortune, Darryl Worley, Randy and Darla Hartley, Bill Cody, Duane and Norah Lee Allen, T. Graham and Sheila Brown, Chris Hillman, Vince and Barbara Dooley, Marty Raybon, Scott Hamilton, Kim Campbell, Megan Alexander.

Throughout John’s long and successful career, Robin has been right beside him, working behind the scenes as a background singer and as part of the JB team. While they have enjoyed an amazing life together, they have also faced difficult challenges, both in his career and his health. With God’s faithfulness being the constant in their lives, they have grown in their relationship with Christ, giving their marriage a firm foundation. Faith, Family & Friends is the perfect outlet, not only for John and Robin to share their life, but for their guests to speak freely about the three most important things in life; faith, family & friends.
